Restoration Program/Operations Manager – MADISON

The Restoration Services Division of Cardno is seeking a Restoration Program/Operations Manager for our Wisconsin/Minnesota region.  The position is based in our Madison, Wisconsin office and reports to the local Office Manager and Regional Manager.  Cardno’s Restoration Services Division provides a broad suite of services in natural resource management, water resource management and permitting/compliance.  Our team provides ecological restoration, invasive species control, revegetation, erosion control, wetland construction, maintenance and other land management practices.  The successful candidate will help oversee the Wisconsin/Minnesota region’s growing restoration team. Environmental Engineer

Founded in 1991, Environmental Design International, Inc. has evolved into a very successful women and minority owned full service, licensed, environmental consulting and professional engineering firm. We are headquartered in downtown Chicago, and our team of engineers, geologists, and scientists offer a variety of environmental, engineering, and industrial hygiene services to clients within both the public and private sectors. We currently have need for an experienced full time Environmental Engineer.

The Environmental Engineer will provide project and technical management; proposal preparation, work plan and report writing; business development; quality assurance and quality control functions; field work, including interior and exterior projects in all weather conditions; and, travel as required to meet client and project needs.

Responsibilities include, maintain a working knowledge of the applicable federal, state and local regulations including but not limited to Phase I ESA ASTM E1527-05 Standard (or most current), Phase II ESA ASTM E1903-97 (or most current) Standard, IEPA SRP, IEPA LUST Program, IEPA CCDD regulations and other applicable regulations as they pertain to the Environmental Department and company activities. Maintain required 40-Hour HAZWOPER training/certification and other Environmental Department certifications and licensing in Illinois as applicable including Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Illinois. In addition, at the request of the Environmental Department Vice President, obtain and/or maintain the PE certification in other states to meet regulatory, project, and client needs. Provide for overall project management, including client contact, proposal development, budget management, invoicing and collections. Provide technical and administrative project direction to the EDI project team, monitor and review project expectations and performance to established budget and scope of work. Work directly with clients and EDI Accounting for invoicing and collections. Provide technical assistance and support for EDI projects, including project design support, site work plan support, field support, client deliverable support including technical review, and general Environmental Department support in accordance with EDI Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Provide on-site technical project management, as-needed, during environmental projects to support client need and EDI project workload. Activities may include the preparation of detailed technical reports, in accordance with EDI SOPs. Prepare detailed technical written reports providing results of environmental department services. Prepare detailed written proposals for service as directed or requested. Review project reports as directed or requested for compliance with the EDI quality assurance/quality control SOP. Assist in the review, revision and development of Department policies as assigned or directed. Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Prepare schematic design and design development documents. This includes, but is not limited to, scheduling and leading design meetings with the Client and appropriate staff/team members, developing preliminary project cost estimates, coordinating design presentations, consulting with appropriate public authorities for input, determining applicable and required codes, regulations, permits, licenses, and authorizations for the project. Prepare construction documents. This includes, but is not limited to, pre-bid estimates, contract document review with appropriate public authorities, public meeting/hearing attendance, contract drawings and specifications review and revision. Provide bidding assistance. Compile selected list of bidders with the Client. Compile and issue addenda, if necessary. Tabulate bid results and participate in contract bid negotiations. Assist the Client in preparation of construction contracts.

Provide construction support. This includes, but is not limited to, contract drawings and specifications interpretation, job meeting scheduling and attendance, personnel project/field visit scheduling and coordination, review of contract drawing and specification modification requests and consultation with the project Architect and other project team members, as appropriate, change estimates/change orders and contractor pay requests review and approval, regularly update the Client and Architect of project status, and preparation of contract closeout documents.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‐year college or university along with a minimum of four years of environmental engineering experience or the equivalent thereof is required. An Illinois PE license required. PE certification in other states (to meet regulatory, project, and client needs) is preferred. A valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance are required. The work associated with this position requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule as project needs dictate.

Wetland Scientist

Environmental consulting firm (30 people), located in Oak Brook, has an opening for a mid-senior level wetland scientist. M.S. in Biology or Environmental Studies required (Natural Resources may be considered pursuant to qualifications). Midwest wetland delineation experience/training required. Additional desired course-work/experience includes some combination of the following: Illinois fish, plant (emphasis on wetland plants), tree identification; macroinvertebrate identification, and water quality issues/evaluation. NEPA (National Environmental Assessment/Environmental Impact Study) experience and field experience a plus. Certified Arborist a plus but not required.
